Dhu Al Qiblatain Mosque (Mosque of the Two Qiblas)

One of the most important religious symbols of the Wilayat of Ibra, the mosque contains two qiblas (prayer directions). One faces north-west towards Al Aqsa Mosque, the first qibla and the destination of the Night Journey of the Prophet (peace be upon him); the other faces Makkah Al Mukarramah. Modern scientific measurements have confirmed that the mosque does indeed face Al Aqsa Mosque.

Wednesday Souq (Souq Al Arbaa)

Dedicated to women, the souq is regarded as a model for women's markets in the Sultanate and has become one of the most important economic destinations in the Wilayats of the Governorate, being an open market with its own distinctive character in the way goods are displayed, sold and bought. This has earned the souq its place on the map of Omani markets.

Al Jawabir Castle

Al Jawabir Castle

Al Jawabir Castle in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi, North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, is one of the Wilayat's prominent historic landmarks. It stands in the old eastern residential quarter and overlooks Al Musaylah Souq. Restoration has given back the castle its grandeur and protected it from the deterioration that had become visible in many of its corners.
Al Rawdhah Castle

Al Rawdhah Castle

The castle stands on a mountain top in the town of Al Rawdhah in the Wilayat of Al Mudhaibi. It was built by Salim bin Imran bin Aziz Al Jabri during the reign of Imam Sultan bin Saif bin Malik Al Ya'rubi. The castle has three floors containing a number of rooms, and two towers used for observation and guarding.
Al Hamam Fort

Al Hamam Fort

Al Hamam Fort, in the village of Al Hamam, is one of the most important heritage and tourist landmarks in the Wilayat. It stands on a hill more than 90 metres above sea level; the fort is 250 metres long and 30 metres wide on average. It lies in the middle of the village houses, is surrounded by the farming oases of Al Hamam and overlooks the main course of the wadis of Dima Wa Al Taiyyin.
Ghubrat Al Tam Park

Ghubrat Al Tam Park

One of the Wilayat's attractions for tourists, thanks to its lakes of water that never run dry throughout the year. The lakes are surrounded by towering mountains whose reflection in the water forms a picture of the Creator's handiwork.

Horse Racing (Al Arda)

Horse and camel racing (Al Arda) is a cultural heritage handed down through successive generations of Omani society and is part of the culture of both town and desert communities. It is associated with many religious, national and social occasions in Omani society and attracts wide popular and national participation. It also showcases the Omani's skill in taming, caring for and training horses and camels, and reflects the great attention and care that owners give to their camels and horses and their keenness to train and look after them.
Al Qabil Fort

Al Qabil Fort

Located in the south-west of the Wilayat of Al Qabil, the fort was built over several periods beginning in 1758 AD, when Falaj Al Qabil was established and the mosque was built. The fort consists of several sections: the eastern section was the residence of Sheikh Ibrahim bin Issa and Sheikh Salih bin Issa, the middle section was the residence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Issa, and Sheikh Nasser bin Issa lived in the western section. Some buildings and annexes were added to the fort in the mid-twentieth century.

Bidiyah Sands

The Bidiyah Sands, also known as the Al Wahiba Sands, are distinguished by their golden colour and vast expanse. As a result, they are among the most beautiful places for camping, especially for lovers of desert camping, and a major destination for four-wheel-drive owners and enthusiasts of driving on desert sands.
Al Mintirib Fort

Al Mintirib Fort

Al Mintirib Fort overlooks a fertile palm oasis on the edge of the Sharqiyah Sands, home to large numbers of nomadic Bedouin who gather in Al Mintirib and other oasis towns from June to September each year during the harvest season. The fort covers an area of 900 square metres.
Al Wasil Fort

Al Wasil Fort

Al Wasil Fort is one of the oldest forts built in the Wilayat. It was built by the Al Hajri tribe as a defensive position at the time and was the first fort built in the Wilayat of Bidiyah. It is the largest and most beautiful, with four formidable towers and an internal souq, and is one of the most prominent landmarks of the village of Al Wasil and the Wilayat of Bidiyah. It was restored by the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture and is a tourist attraction housing many heritage artefacts and collections.
Sinaw Souq

Sinaw Souq

Sinaw Souq is one of the Governorate's commercial markets. It is held every Thursday in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate and is very busy owing to its proximity to Bedouin communities, who come to buy their supplies and to sell their livestock and handwoven textiles. The souq runs from six in the morning until one in the afternoon. A craftsmen's souq has also been opened, offering a variety of traditional handicrafts such as weaving, silverwork, spinning and other home-made craft products.
Wadi Bani Khalid

Wadi Bani Khalid

The water pools of Wadi Bani Khalid are one of the main tourist destinations in the Sultanate, visited all year round for their attractive natural features, which appeal to tourists and visitors from inside and outside the Sultanate.
Al Uwaynah Mosque

Al Uwaynah Mosque

During restoration, the mosque was revived and its architectural features were reshaped in keeping with the landmark's original state. The intact parts were restored and the collapsed parts were rebuilt with traditional materials, and the main facilities, such as a Quran school, ablution areas and toilets, were also provided.
Al Wasta Mosque

Al Wasta Mosque

One of the old mosques of the Wilayat of Ibra, located in the village of Al Nasib. It was built some 300 years ago and was restored in 2022 AD.
